Shaun Rawls makes an impact in BUSINESS PLANNING

Can you tell that Trish Caballero was impressed? Look at her amazing AHAs from the Shaun Rawls BUSINESS PLANNING class

Rowena, I am at our annual South Florida Region Business Planning Clinic today taught by Shaun Rawls. He is saying some great things about you, your production, and your sharing with others behind your back
You go girl!!!

  • Rowena Patton awwww how nice is that! Funny thing is - Nadine Maltz just moved down there to start the PPG S FL team and she was there with you and listening. Thanks Shaun Rawls! We blame it all on Seth Campbell who made us hang out with each other  - hope the Business planning went well.

  • Trish Caballero Rowena Patton: now how did you know that my notes are out on my desk at home this weekend? And yes, Shaun Rawls is fun, wise, practical and a big thinker!!
    Here are a few aha's:
    1. Get STELLAR!! Shaun took the 6 personal perspectives and correlated them to business planning. I know myself that unless I begin with a COMMITMENT to self mastery, both personal and business development will be haphazard at best. As Shaun put it, don't just "give it a whirl", choose it and focus on it.
    2. "Be more attached to the number you are chasing than to the time frame."
    3. "If you're going to hire an assistant, pay them more than you're comfortable paying them so you will not settle for mediocre performance and so they will be motivated to stay." If you're new to using an assistant, you might want to begin with a VA so you know what the performance of an asst should look like before you hire someone full time to work by your side.
    4. "If you want to go from E to P, find out who's doing it, who's doing it to the degree that you want to copy off their paper, then copy off their paper and hire somebody to make sure you copy off their paper." "If you like the cake. Ask for the recipe!" "Commit to go fly and spend a day or toe with KW Top Producers every quarter so you can see who you want to copy from, and then do what they do."
    5. Example: Rowena Patton: she does $45 million in business and teaches everyone how to do it--she's not worried about competition."
    6. "What would it take? What do I have to do to have my best year ever next year? Don't even ask if you're willing to do it, just see what it looks like, and then you will not limit your beliefs about it."
    7. "Planning is powerful. Take the word a lot and give it real numbers."
    8. The 6 Mythunderstandings are actually the 6 limiting beliefs."
    9. Embrace the 9 ways an MREA thinks and post in your office. For me the one that jumps out is "Big Goals and Big Models." For me the word BIG has taken on new meaning, and I know that my big has not been big enough, so I am going to exponentially ramp it up for 2014!! Start with a BIG MODEL -don't think incrementally, and don't grow it inch by inch.
    10. Always think service and value, have a servant's heart - have "moonshot thinking" and think crazy big about how you will out-serve your community.
    11. The price of the homes you sell us the greatest source if leverage you have.
    12. If you master lead gen, you will have all the options you can imagine.
    13. As you prospect and market, work the bulls eye and keep progressively moving people from the outside into the inside of that bullseye.
    14. Have a goal of making your MET database a smaller % of your business than it was the year before.
    15. Listings are the greatest source of leverage in our business, so go get 20 more listings than you have right now.
    16. This was a huge aha re/ how to delegate: first give away your 80% so you can focus on your 20%. Then give away 80% of that 20% you kept, and give away 80% of the 20% of your original 20%, keep doing that until you reach 7th level, and then retain a consulting role to hold the CEO of your team accountable to the numbers. Everybody has an 80/20, and then an 80/20 of their 20, so you can teach your team to also expand and delegate that way.
    17. Track your 8 goal categories for the MREA, always stay focused on #1 & 2, leads generated and listings taken.
    18. Don't just generate leads for listings - generate leads for talent! Plan on doing at least 1 AVA monthly, don't hire out of panic or the need for relief.
    29. Run everything off of Shaun's little bubble model.
    20. Keep it simple, stay with the bubbles. Plan from ( years to 3 years to 1 year.
There you have it Rowena --- I guess you could say I am paying attention. I will write a 5 year plan that is, in my mind, outrageous, and that gives me 5 years to mentally, spiritually, emotionally and behaviorally grow into it
Thanks for asking for my aha's Rowena--it's my 3rd time taking Business Planning, I view writing my business plan as my personal New Year celebration. The thinking big and envisioning is delicious. Enjoy the ride...

  • Trish Caballero Well Shaun Rawls, isn't it nice to know that somebody listens to you and finds value in what you say? I was the one at the back table with my calculator who asked your thoughts about how we stay with the guidelines in the budget model and still incorporate $12,000 for coaching into those recommended percentages!!
I am so eager to get into coaching, and yet so clear about leading with revenue, still struggling with that decision, so while I think it through I am gonna do BOLD again and ramp up the cash flow -it's a great time of year to do BOLD heading into the holidays to lay the foundation for an awesome 2014  Thanks for your input, and I am scouting around for big models to go visit next year as I go to another level...

  • Shaun Rawls I love the way you are thinking! Let revenue from BOLD lead the way to coaching! That alone will give you a big why during BOLD that will help you maximize your results! Keep me posted on all of your progress as I know there will be much to report!

  • Rowena Patton Shaun Rawls if you elicit that kind of learning in your business planning classes, Gary Keller should put you to work every day around the country leading the charge . Oh wait, it looks like that is what you are doing.

  • Rowena Patton quick and dirty is small and often! 1- create bite size pieces of content every day, 2) leverage the content you have every day 3- join the dots, use what your clients are asking for to create content so you don't have to keep inventing the wheel, 4 - use all of that material to post on FB, write in your blogs, use in ads, build in to your agent scripts....5, repeat tomorrow.

Shaun Rawls: Business Planning 10/13
"When the student is ready, the teacher appears."
Shaun appeared, so I must be ready!!
When Shaun taught Business Planning in South Florida last week, he mentioned the astounding business of Rowena Patton, so I FB'd Rowena and friended her on Facebook while I was in the Biz Planning Class with Shaun, just to let her know that somebody (Shaun) was saying some great things about her behind her back! Rowena responded and asked me for AHA's after the class was over. Did you see the 20 - count 'em - 20 AHA's I sent to Rowena? Before real estate, I was the faculty chairperson for a strategic planning process for a university. What I will tell you is that Keller Williams teaches Business Planning from the inside out - and Shaun has lived it, done it, watched it, taught it, and held people accountable to it. Not to mention that he is so down to earth and just plain funny. People who know their stuff can afford to keep it simple. Ask Shaun how to plan with bubbles. Bubbles keep it simple :) I am writing a plan with enough bubbles to triple my production next year...and yes, I will update him on my progress every once in a while during 2014.
Happy planning!! Want to talk about Business Planning?
Friend me on FB and
let's do it for 2014 :)
